Visions- Grimes

“Visions” - Grimes Young American producer and writer Grimes has been the word on everyone’s lips lately. Known for her translucent beats and heart warming vocals, Grimes has produced an album by the title “Visions”.

This albums features songs “Oblivion” and “Genesis” This was originally released in 2012 and got rave reviews and massive advertisement on the popular radio station Triple J. Although half the time you can’t understand what on earth she is singing about, she conveys her emotion using oriental-like dance music and boppy sound effects that give the listener a new look on the standard style of a pop song.

While considered a pop artist, Grimes is very different from the rest and isn’t afraid to say it like it is. This album promises a heap load of psychedelic beats and confusing lyrics that will make you fall in love with her instantly! Grimes is a very experimental artist and kudos to her for making something different from what she was originally labelled as.

“Visions” is pure creative genius and i give it 4/5 stars

AM - Arctic Monkeys

They're at it again! After a long break from recording new music, British punk-rock band The Arctic Monkeys have released a new album under the title “AM”.

“Why Do You Only Call Me When You’re High?” and “Do I Wanna Know?” are popular songs from this album and its obvious why. The album is very different from their early albums such as “Brianstorm”, “Favourite Worst Nightmare”, and “Suck it and See”, which have a trashier and more naive sound.

Listening to this album I noticed many different things in the way in which Alex Turner (lead vocalist and guitarist) expresses his emotion through his voice.

Comparing this album to all the band's earlier material it is a lot more mature and the story telling is similar to that of a Bob Dylan album. It seems the band have taken a new chilled approach to conquering the punk-rock scene and this new sound has had rave reviews the past few months.

AM is perfect for every type of weather and every family member. I recommend this band and this album to everyone as it seems the Arctic Monkeys truly do get better with age. If you are interested in catching them live they are doing an Australia tour in May and tickets are selling fast so get on it! I give “AM” 5/5 stars

Settle- Disclosure

Disclosure_-_Settle.jpg

English boys, Disclosure, are known for their edgy dance tracks and unforgettable crisp edits, and this year, they have teamed up with artists such as London Grammar, Aluna George and Eliza Doolittle to create one of the greatest British electronica albums that this generation has come across. The album features well known singles - “When a Fire Starts To Burn”, “Latch” and “You and Me”. Taking samples from previous recorded vocals and bringing them to life, meanwhile twisting the sounds of ordinary “doof doof” dance music, is what the boys are well known for and anyone of any age will be enticed by the sounds of this album. The indie dance and electric music scene has become very popular in the last 12 months, and these boys have proven why. Their groovy up beat tempo’s and catchy chorus’s will make you escape everything no matter what state you’re in. Prepare yourself to be revived and fall in love with every track on this record; you wont stop dancing! I give “Settle” 4/5 stars
